Hojicha latte
Hojicha latte has plenty of fans all over the world. It's made using powdered hojicha, a little water, and frothed milk. But before we get to drinking it, it's worth explaining what this powder actually is. It's a powdered green tea called hojicha, made from leaves that are roasted after being picked and dried. This gives it its dark colour and deep, nutty flavour, and also reduces its caffeine content. Because of this, it can be enjoyed by children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and anyone avoiding stimulants. Hojicha latte – powdered hojicha with added milk – has a mild flavour, somewhat reminiscent of milky coffee or cocoa, which makes it a great option even for those who are sceptical about green tea. Below you'll find a recipe for making this drink at home.

Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon Moya Hojicha Powder
- 50ml warm water
- 200ml milk or plant-based drink of your choice, such as oat or pea milk
- Something to sweeten the drink – to taste
For the perfect Hojicha Latte, try Moma oat milk or Sproud pea milk. You'll find them on our website!
Method:
- Whisk the Hojicha Powder together with the water, using a milk frother or a bamboo chasen whisk, the same kind used to prepare matcha.
- Warm your milk or plant-based drink, froth it, and pour it over the hojicha and water mixture.
- Sweeten if you like, and enjoy the nutty, caramel-like flavour of the drink.
Enjoy! Itadakimasu!
